Terms of service

Last updated: August 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and WAMMA LTD for YawningFox. They are short, and written to be understood.

1. Who you are dealing with

YawningFox is operated by WAMMA LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17187505), registered office 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. You can reach us at yawningfox@wamma.io.

2. Who may hold an account

Accounts are for adults. You must be 18 or over, and you confirm this when you sign up. Children are the audience for the stories, never the account holder — they should not sign up, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them.

You are responsible for what happens on your account, including any stories created on it.

3. What you get

You describe a story; we write it, narrate it, and — on the plans that include it — illustrate it. Each plan comes with a monthly allowance of narrated stories and illustrated storybooks. Your allowance resets on your billing date each month — the day of the month you subscribed. On the free plan it resets at the start of each calendar month in your timezone.

An allowance is only used when a story succeeds. If generation fails, nothing is deducted and you can simply try again.

Playing a story you already have is always free and unlimited, and your library stays available for as long as your account exists.

4. Paying, changing plans and cancelling

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance. Prices are shown in your region’s currency before you pay, and include any tax we are required to charge.

You can cancel at any time. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have already paid for, then move to the free tier — your library stays yours either way. We do not pro-rate part-months.

If a payment fails we will retry, and email you. If it is still unpaid after a short grace period, the account moves to the free tier.

5. Stories are made by AI

Stories, narration and illustrations are generated by AI from what you type. That means every story is new, and no two are quite the same — including two made from the same idea.

We check what goes in and what comes out, and the storyteller is instructed to keep things gentle and bedtime-appropriate. No automated check is perfect. You are the grown-up in the loop: please look at a story before sharing it with your child, and tell us if something is wrong so we can fix it.

6. What you may ask for

Please don’t use YawningFox to create anything that is:

  • frightening, violent, sexual, hateful or otherwise unsuitable for a child;
  • designed to harass, demean or target a real person;
  • promoting products that are not suitable for children;
  • unlawful, or intended to break these terms.

We may refuse a request, and we may suspend an account that keeps making them.

7. Familiar characters and brands

YawningFox lets you name the things your child actually loves, including characters from films, books and games. That is deliberate — it is what makes a story feel like theirs.

Those characters and brands belong to their owners, not to us and not to you. Stories you make are for your family’s private, non-commercial enjoyment. Do not publish, sell or distribute a story that features someone else’s characters, and do not use one commercially. You are responsible for what you ask for.

8. Who owns the stories

The stories, audio and pictures made on your account are yours to keep, play and share privately with your family, subject to the section above.

We keep a copy in order to run the service — so your library works, so we can back it up, and so we can investigate a safety report. YawningFox itself — the app, the brand, the fox — stays ours.

9. Deleting things

Delete a story and it is recoverable for 30 days, then permanently removed along with its audio and pictures. Delete your account and we remove your data and media on the same 30-day basis.

Some records are kept longer where the law requires it — for example billing records, and safety logs that never contain the text of a blocked request.

10. When things break

We aim to keep YawningFox running, but we cannot promise it is always available or error-free. Generation depends on third-party AI services, which occasionally fail or slow down.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited under UK law. Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Because you are a consumer, you keep all the rights UK consumer law gives you — these terms do not take any of them away.

11. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms in a way that materially affects you, we will tell you by email or in the app before the change takes effect. If you are not happy with a change, you can cancel.

12. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you live elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

If something has gone wrong, please email us first — most things are quicker to fix that way.
